A Westward Mirage

When I first learned that I would have to start blogging, I was nervous to say the least… I don’t have the first clue on how to jumpstart a website, let alone foster a creative outlet for the public. However, as I look back on my blogging journey, I can’t believe how far I’ve come and how much I’ve learned about the blogging process as a whole.

What I learned

1. Consistency is Key
   • At the beginning of my journey, I found myself spending hours perfecting my blog, whether it was the color scheme, pictures, or changing my words around, but I soon realized that was what takes the fun out of blogging. Perfection isn’t everything in a blog post, of course, it helps when it comes to editing the piece, but it’s all about letting myself and my voice shine through and staying consistent with posting.
2. It Takes Time
   • I often found myself impatient at the start, but I quickly learned that growth takes time. My first post could definitely use some work looking back, but to see how far I’ve come makes me excited for my future “blogging career”!
3. Creativity Evolves with Curiosity
   • A lot of times, when I went to write my pieces, my best work came from instances when I followed a rabbit down a hole. Not only did I find great things to write about, but I also learned a lot of new concepts in the process.

My future blogging journey

Success is built on learning from your past mistakes and making improvements, and for me, I feel like I have a lot of things I could elevate and change. The one that sticks out the most to me is sticking with a theme. I find my blogs do not match up across the board, and I personally think a great blog follows a theme that readers are interested in. I need to find my own voice and writing style to make my blog say, “Hey, look, it’s me!!”.

As for a future in blogging, I feel like down the road, I would love to start a consistent blog! I want to establish a vision first before I move forward. I think by creating a consistent idea for what I want to create, my blog’s success will follow suit.

Blogging is a digital activity I have never considered before, but it is one I have a newfound love for! I hope to launch a blog down the road sometime to share my voice, my way, one post at a time!
